Chickasaw Plum (Prunus angustifolia)
Chickasaw plum is an amazing plant for wildlife. I cannot say enough good things about this native plum. The benefits of chicksaw plum include: Host plant for many species of butterflies, spring flowers are very attractive to pollinators, small plums are relished by wildlife, and the trees are favored by songbirds due to the thicket forming habitat.
In the wild Chickasaw plums grow in thickets in fields, forest edges. They need full sun, to limited part shade
They are considered a small tree/shrub that may get up to 15 feet tall. They will for small colonies if allowed to spread.
A great plant that should/ needs to be more common in backyard gardens.
Give Chickasaw plum a try.
The plants are in 1 gallon pots, and are about 2-3 feet tall. Chickasaw plums are fast growing so once planted they will really take off.
